World First

(Inspiration) from Wikipedia-

"Alex Steinweiss (March 24, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York) is a graphic designer.

In 1939, he was the first art director for Columbia Records, where he invented the concept of album covers and cover art;[1] previously, recorded music was sold in plain, undecorated packaging."

Cold Snap

"La maison de mon rĂªve"

"High Society"

"Kitsune?"

(Original) Another work day, another chance to test a new film. Inspired by the beautiful snowy landscape that was laid before me i decided i would force a film of AGFA 100 colour reversal film through my camera on the way to work with the intention of cross processing it once i arrived. My interest in this film was its reputation to retain more vibrant and vivid colour when cross processed as opposed to the overtly yellow/green/blacks that are produced by other brands. I hadn't accounted for the way the cold would affect my camera, resulting in my light-reader being rendered inert, hoping that intuition alone would carry me through i continued to shoot all the way to work. Yup, i underexposed pretty much the whole film, the photos here are all that were spared, still they serve to illustrate good contrast and vibrant colour through Xpro with colour replication that trannys are known for.

After Photography?

Given the emergence of the digital, few appear to be exploring whether more effective and expansive media strategies can now emerge. This site is a forum on possibility, launched in conjunction with the publication of Fred Ritchin's book After Photography in December of 2008.

(Inspiration) This is a must read for all interested in the future of photo journalism, technology of photography or opinions about the dangers of censorship and digital manipulation. Written an run by photographer and author Fred Ritchin. He also maintains a blog of his own, with personal responses and projections regarding the future of photography this is Serious Stuff!

(Original) Pictures taken testing a 'Neopan 1600'. i was so keen to see the results that i rushed to use the film up at work, i literally couldn't process it fast enough. Great results, strong grain, soft shades and nice contrast. I have shot a couple of films with this and i i have to say it captures a mood and warm grey tones in a way that Ilford just doesn't.

Welcome to FIRST

(Original) Welcome to PositiveContactPhotography, this blog is first and foremost for ME. Its not for you, or you, or... you! But, you are all welcome here. I want to use this blog to not only document images of mine that i particularly proud of or want to share, but to also to use it like an online scrap book, to archive quotes, web pages or blogs 'relating to photography' that i think are of significant interest. If you are like-minded, a photographer or have something you to share please by all mean, comment or communicate by email, for me this is about learning and of course enjoyment.

Its Wednesday the 6th January, 2010. Happy New Year. ^_^
